Anthropic is permanently increasing Claude Code’s standard weekly usage limits by 25% for Pro, Max, Team, and space-based Enterprise plans, but that’s not as good as it sounds.
If you use Claude you will actually get a 17% discount compared to what you have today.
Claude Code is currently planning a temporary 50% increase in weekly limits, which Anthropic says will remain in effect until September 14th.
“Starting September 14th, we are permanently increasing standard weekly limits in Claude Code by 25% for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans,” said Anthropic wrote to X. “Until then, the current 50% increase applies.”
It’s a clever way of phrasing words because it almost sounds like you’re winning as a customer, but that’s not the case and it’s a downgrade.
If Claude Code’s original weekly allowance was 100, the temporary increase will give you 150 today. On September 14th, this will drop to 125.
In other words, you will use Claude Code 25% more than before the temporary promotion, but about 17% less than you do now.
Anthropic says more changes to how Claude Code is used are coming
Anthropic later deleted the original thread and posted a clarification clearly admitting the reduction.
“Compared to today, this represents a 17% reduction in weekly limits for Claude Code,” the company said said.
“We’re working on exciting changes that will make you feel like you’re getting more from Claude while having more transparency and control over your usage. I can’t wait to share them.”
According to Anthropic, Claude usage can vary based on factors such as conversation length, model selection, tool usage and effort, so the weekly quota is not reflected in a fixed number of Claude code prompts.
The current temporary 50% increase will remain available until September 13th, with the new permanent limits coming into effect on September 14th.
