Apple Card keeps getting better, here’s everything new

The Apple Card launched seven years ago this month, and it just keeps getting better. New features, perks, rewards and more. In addition, there is one important change that is taking place.

This is everything new with Apple Card recently.

iOS 27: Recurring transactions

As my colleague Ryan pointed out last month, iOS 27 adds a really useful “Recurring” feature to the Wallet app for Apple Card. You can find the “Recurring” hub by tapping the three-dot menu in the upper right corner.

In this menu, you’ll see a list of upcoming recurring transactions that are set to be charged to your Apple Card. This includes the expected transaction date and amount. In addition to viewing transactions as a list, you can also view them in a monthly calendar view.

It’s a useful new feature for Apple Card users in iOS 27. The update is currently available to public beta testers and developers, and may be released to everyone next month.

New status benefits

Earlier this month, Apple added New benefits for Apple Card users who travel a lot.

Apple has partnered with Booking.com to offer all Apple Card users “Genius Level 2” status after a stay or car rental. You also get 3% cashback daily on all Booking.com transactions.

What do you get with “Genius Level 2” status? Apple says your status can “unlock perks on stays and car rentals like 10-15% off, free breakfast and room upgrades.”

Hertz partnership

Last year, Apple announced a partnership with Hertz to offer exclusive privileges when you book a rental car with your Apple Card:

  • Free emergency roadside service
  • Add the Loss of Vehicle Protection Exemption for a discounted rate of $16.95 per day (plus tax).
  • Add additional drivers for free at checkout.
  • Save at least 5% off the pay later rate.

Additionally, the Apple Card offers 3% daily cash back on car rentals booked through Hertz.

Apple Card Savings Account Extension

One criticism people have of the Apple Card is that it relies on your iPhone for key account management features. Since the Apple Card was launched, Apple has been working to improve it.

Recently, Apple launched a web login for the Apple Savings Card. This means that you can now view and manage your Apple Card savings account directly in your browser.

There is a big change

The big change hanging over Apple Card right now, is the upcoming move from Goldman Sachs to Chase. Apple announced the deal back in January and said the transition would happen “in about 24 months.”

Many questions remain about what the future of the Apple Card will be under Chase. Apple has promised that many key aspects of the Apple Card will not change under Chase’s leadership. We should learn more details over the next 18 months as Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Apple iron out the details behind the scenes.

Wrap up

Are you an Apple Card holder? What do you think about it? Personally, I think it’s an excellent choice for people in the Apple ecosystem, although you can find better rewards through other ecosystems. I use my Apple Card to pay for my Apple subscription to get 3% cash back every day. The option to finance the purchase of Apple hardware with 0% interest is still very interesting.
