Claude suffers a serious failure. Users report login issues and performance issues across multiple Anthropic services.
The incident began on August 16, 2026 at approximately 21:58 UTC and affects Claude.ai, Claude Code and Claude Cowork.

A few minutes later, Anthropic reported a broader service interruption that resulted in performance degradation on Claude.ai and platform.claude.com.
For users, the outage may result in problems logging in, Claude failing to load, requests not completing, or other errors while using the affected services.
On Anthropic’s status page, Claude.ai, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork are currently experiencing a major outage.
Claude Console and the Claude API are currently listed as operational.
Anthropic has not disclosed the cause of the outage and both incidents remain under investigation at the time of writing.
Update 1: Anthropic announced on August 16 at 21:58 UTC that it is investigating authentication issues affecting Claude.ai, Claude Code and Claude Cowork.
Update 2: At 22:07 UTC, Anthropic reported a performance degradation on Claude.ai and platform.claude.com. The company says it is continuing to investigate the incident.
Update 3: At 22:40 UTC, Anthropic confirmed that all services had been restored.
