Mandiant founder Kevin Mandia joins Amazon’s board

Amazon has appointed cybersecurity veteran Kevin Mandia to its board of directors, bolstering the tech giant’s security expertise at the board level.

Mandia was elected to the board on September 8 and brings more than 30 years of experience in responding to cyber threats in the public and private sectors. Amazon announced.

He is the founder and CEO of the cybersecurity firm Armadin and the co-founder and general partner of a venture capital firm focused on cybersecurity Ballistic Enterprises.

Mandia is best known as the founder and former CEO of incident response and threat intelligence company Mandiant. The company was acquired by FireEye in late 2013, but regained its name in 2021 after FireEye sold its products business. Google subsequently acquired Mandiant in 2022 and integrated the company into Google Cloud.

Before entering the private sector, Mandia served as a computer security officer in the Pentagon and as a special agent in the Air Force’s Office of Special Investigations. He also served on the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee and the Cybersecurity Advisory Committee of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

Amazon said Mandia’s experience protecting large organizations and investing in emerging security companies will help inform its board as cybersecurity risks evolve alongside advances in artificial intelligence.
