Talal Haj Bakry and Tommy Mysk, researchers who found the problem, wrote in their blog post that the problem depends on three features in Apple’s WebKit browser, which is used by all browsers in iOS. Private Relay only works while using Safari.

Apple did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Mysk and his colleagues developed a private browser called Psylo, which they say now has mitigations that prevent users’ IP addresses from being leaked when using Psylo.
