Apple has officially announced its next product event, which will launch the iPhone 18 Pro and the first foldable iPhone. The event will be held on September 9 at 10 am, PT. The label reads “Surprise and Shine,” and the invitation features the Apple logo glowing with the sun shining through.
What to expect from Apple’s September event
Apple is expected to announce three new iPhone models:
- iPhone 18 Pro
- iPhone 18 Pro Max
- Apple’s first foldable iPhone, rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra
This year, the standard iPhone models are not expected to be part of Apple’s decline. Apple has reportedly split its annual iPhone releases, with the iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 to follow in spring 2027.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to maintain the same general display design and size as their predecessors. Instead, this year’s upgrades will focus on new displays, cameras, and connectivity technologies.
Rumors point to three main upgrades: a variable-aperture main camera, a smaller dynamic island, and Apple’s C2 cellular modem.
Apple may offer the new Pro phone in four colors: dark cherry, black, silver, and light blue.
Apple’s first foldable display product: the iPhone Ultra
The biggest announcement, however, will be Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
Rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra, the device is expected to use a notebook-style design with an external display measuring between 5.3 and 5.5 inches and an internal display measuring between 7.6 and 7.8 inches.
The foldable iPhone is rumored to have a titanium frame, an ultra-thin design, and a scratch-free display.
It may use Touch ID integrated into the power button instead of Face ID, along with two front cameras and a dual camera system on the back.
This will almost certainly be Apple’s most expensive iPhone yet. Most estimates point to a starting price of around $1,999, although some reports suggest the configuration could reach $2,500.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 upgrades are expected
We also expect to see two updated versions of the Apple Watch:
- Apple Watch Series 12
- Apple Watch Ultra 4
Neither watch is expected to receive a major redesign. Instead, Apple will focus on new processors and health upgrades. The new Apple Watch SE is not expected at this time.
We expect AirPods 5, although AirPods Pro with Visual Intelligence is expected to be available next year soon. Recently, Apple also announced the new Mac mini and Mac Studio desktop hardware that is set to be released on September 22.
This will also mark a new era for Apple’s leadership. John Ternus will take over as CEO of Apple on September 1, with Tim Cook moving to the role of executive chairman.
We’ll see that and more at Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and foldable iPhone event in September.
