Streaming services seem to get more expensive every year, but Google is giving Google TV users another reason to see how far they can go without paying for another subscription.
Google TV Freeplay, which until now has largely focused on free live television adding video on demand for the first time. The service now offers over 10,000 movies and TV shows that you can watch anytime, in addition to a growing collection of free live channels.

Like Freeplay’s existing channels, the new on-demand library is ad-supported, so you don’t need another monthly subscription to access it.
According to Google, the library includes content from studios such as A24 and Lionsgate Lady Bird, 17 Againand Hell’s kitchen among the currently available addresses. The selection does not remain static either, as Google plans to update the library throughout the year.
This new addition makes Google Freeplay much more attractive as it now gives users the option to watch shows and movies on their own schedule instead of playing anything on live channels.
Freeplay’s live TV library is also expanding
Google hasn’t forgotten about its live channels either, with more and more new channels coming in, bringing the number of free channels down north of 300. New channels include news, sports, reality TV, true crime and other categories. New features include Bloomberg TV+, Yahoo! Sports Network, World of Love Island and The Martha Stewart Channel.
Freeplay is built right into Google TV, so there’s no separate downloadable service or subscription to manage it. Users can simply open the Freeplay app on the Google TV home screen to access live channels and the new on-demand library. However, there is one significant limitation. Google TV Freeplay is still only available on Google TV devices in the US
