Thanks to its 24-hour battery life and dual-angle tweeters for a wider soundstage, the Sonos Move 2 is down to $399 at Amazon, a 20% savings.
Our tech expert David Ludlow reviewed the Move 2 and found a speaker built around two angled tweeters instead of one. This redesign widens the soundstage and fills the room with a less directional, more layered sound than its predecessor.
We also praised the mid-woofer’s punch when cranking the volume, such as on Rage Against the Machine, noting that it threw out the bass with real weight without ever burying the vocals underneath.
Battery life is where the upgrade really comes in, with 24 hours of rated playtime and still finding 54% after eight hours of outdoor work, more than double what the original Move could manage on a single charge.
This durability is backed up by an IP56 rating, so David was comfortable leaving the speaker outside overnight without worrying about rain, dust or damage from accidental spills.
Automatic Trueplay tuning adjusts the sound every time the Move 2 changes location, which we tested by taking it from the kitchen counter to the bookshelf to the garden and found it balanced the output well in each location.
Indoors, the Move 2 drops onto its charging dock and behaves like any other Sonos speaker, connecting via Wi-Fi to an existing system for multi-room playback, while Bluetooth 5 takes over the moment you take it out the front door.
