Google brings Gemini Intelligence to the Pixel 11 series

Google’s Gemini Intelligence wants to understand what you’re doing and take action when it can save you a little work. We got an early taste of this idea at Google I/O 2026 with Rambler, a feature that lets you blurt out your thoughts however you want and have Gemini turn them into polished text. So if you’re walking to work and need to send a long message, you can let Gemini make it something the other person can understand.

Google Messages is where things get interesting. For example, suppose a friend sends you a text message asking what time your flight lands. Usually you exit Messages, look for a reservation in your email or airline app, check for flight delays, and then go back to chatting with an answer. Gemini Intelligence can eliminate most of that back and forth by showing you relevant flight information, including its live status and shared flight tracking link.

The same idea applies to regular conversations. If someone recommends a restaurant for dinner, Gemini Intelligence can display their Google Maps listing. If a friend asks if you’re free next Friday, they can show a Calendar request. So if your phone takes some of these tasks off your plate, the Gemini might feel a lot more useful.

Of course, a phone that understands this much context raises the obvious question of privacy. Google says Gemini Intelligence is built on three core principles: giving users real control, protecting their data, and being transparent about how the technology works. These promises are important here, given how useful Gemini Intelligence is supposed to be.

Google has a few more AI updates: Circle for Search and Live Translate are all smarter at first glance. For example, in a restaurant, the Pixel can display a Google Maps shortcut with useful details like popular dishes or quiet places to sit. This can save you from scrolling through tons of reviews while everyone at the table is waiting for you to pick something.

Circle to Search is also getting a handy update. You can now use Translate directly from the Pixel Camera app, so if you point your camera at an unfamiliar menu, street sign or product label and hold down the main bar, you can quickly pull up a translation. It’s a small change, but one that I find very useful when traveling.

Live Translate goes one step further. The Pixel 11 can automatically transcribe supported audio in real-time, based on the technology Google uses for translated phone calls. It also works with YouTube and select video and podcast apps, helping the Tensor G6 enhance the experience.
