Apple’s ‘Revamped’ Health App With AI Health Coach Launching Next Month?

Earlier this year, there were rumors of an updated Health app coming to iOS 26.4. Then the project was delayed, and iOS 27 came and went, and the update has not yet arrived.

With the new Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 launching next month, it’s worth asking: Will we see features launch alongside the new hardware?

First and foremost, it is worth to take place why it is possible that the feature will be launched in September. You might be thinking “Shouldn’t all the software be released in June?” – but in fact there is some use here.

Low power mode in watchOS 9, sleep apnea detection in watchOS 11, and high blood pressure alerts in watchOS 26 are all features that won’t be revealed until September despite not requiring the latest hardware.

So, for those reasons – it’s incredibly possible that Apple will wait until September to unveil its latest Health app upgrade, even if they don’t necessarily use the brand new Apple Watch.

There is still time

Before WWDC27, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman warned that the new Health app upgrade, dubbed Project Mulberry, might not appear in the WWDC keynote. Of course, now ended the case:

The Apple Health app is getting new AI features originally planned for its comprehensive in-house health coaching service called “Mulberry” which has been scaled back. The upgrade, which includes improvements to blood sugar-related tracking and the ability to use the device’s camera to monitor a person’s exercise, is not expected to arrive in the initial iOS 27 release. Apple may announce these later than WWDC.

Does this mean that the Mulberry project will definitely debut in the September notes? No. That said, given that the previous feature was revealed in September and the fact that we already know it could be released after WWDC, a September reveal feels more likely, even though it will eventually end up being released in iOS 27.1 in October.

Summary of features

Rumors are a little wishful thinking about this feature set, since there are so many variables at play. One thing you may have heard is that there will be a stand-alone Health+ service with videos from doctors. However, that plan has reportedly been scaled back to integrate the feature into the regular Health app experience.

There are two very obvious things: there will be an AI health coach that gives you health advice based on the health app data, and it also has the ability to use your camera to give you real-time advice on exercise and other health-related tasks. Another important part of this upgrade is the new Health app design that makes it easier to understand all the information.

Other than that, we will have to wait and see. I, for one, wish there was a much better way of making sense of my Apple Health data.
