Apple has stepped up again to contribute to support relief efforts after severe natural disasters. Here are the details.
Apple pledges support after devastating floods
Tonight, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company will donate to support relief and rebuilding efforts after flash floods and mudslides that killed hundreds of people in Nepal and Tibet.
The disaster began on Wednesday after the base of the Himalayan glaciers collapsed. The debris briefly blocked the Mekong River before giving way, sending floodwaters and mud downstream, killing hundreds, displacing others, and damaging villages, roads, bridges and other infrastructure.
Cook’s pledge comes just days after Apple said it would donate to support Indonesia’s earthquake relief efforts, and follows similar donations the company has made in recent months in response to emergencies in Venezuela, Southern Europe and Japan, among others.
In addition to stepping up to natural disasters and other emergencies, Apple also has an internal donation program called Employee Giving, which raises awareness. More than 880 million dollars Until now through the donation-matching policy.
