What is ITVX?
ITVX is a streaming platform that hosts all of ITV’s content, additional box sets and movies, as well as live streaming of ITV channels. You can also choose from FAST channels for live streaming, including the channel for showing episodes of The Chase, ITV Quiz for quiz shows and Reality 24/7 for the likes of vintage TOWIE and Real Housewives franchises.
Otherwise, ITVX has a range of shows from dramas to documentaries to reality TV, comedies and even a range of movies. In fact, ITV claims there are 26,000 hours of content available on the platform, with new box sets being added every week.
All of this is available for free as long as you don’t mind sitting through the ads.
What devices support ITVX?
Many devices support ITVX as its app is available on compatible smart TVs, streaming sticks, game consoles, PCs, smartphones and tablets. You can also access ITVX through its website, which is an easy way to start streaming quickly without having to download the app separately.
Is ITVX free?
As long as you create a free account, ITVX is completely free to download and use. Keep in mind, though, that you’ll have to sit through ads, both while watching live TV and streaming on-demand content.
If you don’t want to deal with ads, you can upgrade to ITVX Premium for an ad-free experience for £5.99 a month. With a subscription, you can also download shows to your device and access BritBox content.
Note that even if you upgrade your account, you’ll still need to watch ads on live TV.
What can I watch on ITVX?
ITV promises over 26,000 hours of content on the service, but what does that number actually contain? ITVX has divided its content into the following categories:
- Documentaries and lifestyle
- Drama
- Kids
- Movie
- Sports
- Comedy
- News
- Fun and reality
- Signed (BSL)
Within these categories you’ll also find a mix of classic shows and new ITV exclusives.
If you sign up for the ad-free plan, you’ll also get access to BritBox, which unlocks even more box sets – especially British originals. These include The Vicar of Dibley, Only Fools and Horses and Keeping Up Appearances.
