Remember DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince’s Boom, Shake the Room? Sony has obviously not forgotten, and with its latest ULT party speakers, it brings the bass anywhere.
The latest models include the ULT Tower Max, ULT Tower 7 and ULT Tower, with a new aesthetic, redesigned drivers and some tuning support from Hip Hop sound creators.
The largest of the new ULT loudspeakers is the ULT Tower Max, which replaces the ULT Tower 10 in the range and delivers the strongest bass yet in the range. The ULT Tower 7 is smaller, with slightly less bass, and the ULT Tower 5 is, unsurprisingly, the smallest of the trio, bringing the bass to “smaller gatherings” in a portable form.
To bring even more bass to the series, Sony engineers have replaced the X-Balanced speakers that were present before and built newly developed large, circular subwoofers. The ULT Tower Max has three of these, two forward and one rear, and believe us when we say it has the bass power to rock a large room even at half volume.
With these subwoofers backed by a high-powered amplifier, the ULT Tower Max’s 2150 watts of power is enormous. The power of the ULT Tower 7 drops precipitously to 420 watts (which indicates how much power the Max repeats); while the ULT Tower releases 300 watts of power.
The volume can be adjusted with the ULT button on the front of the speaker, with ULT1 providing deep bass (“that makes your heart flutter”) and ULT2 providing even more body tremors, while Flat aims to reproduce the music as the creator intended (although we’re told there’s still a slight “bump” in the pitch while maintaining a “live-packrets” pitch). vocal clarity.
Sony has aimed for industry credibility by tuning the speaker’s performance, featuring the likes of DJ Dready (formerly of So Solid Crew), Grammy-nominated producer Dot Da Genius, award-winning drummer Daru Jones, and sound engineer/producer Dennis “ROC.am” Jones, delivering a clean, deeper sound.
All three party speakers are available now, although we currently only have prices in Euros. ULT Tower Max SRP is €1500, ULT Tower 7 is €600 and ULT Tower 5 is €400.
