As a relatively new Apple Vision Pro user, this is how I like to use it

Apple Vision Pro is one of Apple’s most interesting hardware releases. It’s technically very impressive, but it seems almost certain that this form factor won’t last – and instead will be an interim platform to introduce visionOS to the world before we finally get our glasses.

I bought one late last year, and while I am not a major user of it, there is one case that makes it really enjoyable.

when Vision Pro Launched, the potential seems endless. It may be the headset to end all screens. The Mac Virtual Display looks awesome, and so does the idea of FaceTime with space – although Persona was a little shaky at launch.

Then, when the honeymoon period is over, people start to realize that the headphones are quite heavy, making it difficult to use for a long time. This means that many people are starting to sell their Vision Pros, letting you pick up a used one for a huge discount.

They average around $1500 now – a smaller pill to swallow than the new $3699 starting price.

If Vision Pro excels in one thing, it is content consumption. The App Store may not be the most interesting in most cases, although you have most of the streaming apps, including Disney+, HBO Max, and even YouTube now. Netflix is the biggest outlier. Of course, you also have Apple TV.

The best way to enjoy Vision Pro

Outgoing Apple CEO Tim Cook shared how he likes to use Vision Pro back in January 2025, and recently referenced it again last month in an interview at Ted Lasso’s season 4 premiere:

Funnily enough, Cook was asked if he plans to watch Ted Lasso Season 4 on the Apple Vision Pro. It was reported that he watched season 3. “Oh, of course, and watching it lying on Vision Pro, there is nothing like it.”

I can’t speak specifically for watching shows and movies on Vision Pro. It is a lot to commit to sometimes, since multitasking on Vision Pro Sometimes its a bad software keyboard fight.

When I watch programs or movies in Vision ProAlthough, I just do it using the Tim Cook method: lie down and look up. It completely eliminates weight concerns, and is a very relaxing experience if you have the time to do it.

Vision Pro It’s a more expensive product to use for occasional TV viewing, at least for its MSRP. With how much they’ve dropped in price, I think buying one just to use as a bedside TV isn’t necessarily a scary idea. It’s a fun experience, especially when you’re watching in 3D.
