While I’ve used all the major AIs from Gemini to ChatGPT, I’ve found that Claude remains my favorite, even if it’s a bit worse because of the slightly more aggressive caps and higher starting prices for subscription tiers.
What I like about Claude is that its session memory and recall are much better than its competitors, making it better for longer projects. I also feel that his responses are the most “human” and that my back-and-forth feels like an act of genuine cooperation rather than a “yes man” tool. Unfortunately, being too human, it’s also rambling, preachy, and adds a lot of introductions that I didn’t ask for.
I recently heard about a community-created “I have ADHD” skill that has gone viral through online communities like Reddit. I have been using it actively for two weeks. This simple skill works with both Claude Code and Claude Chat, although the exact steps will be different.
And what does he do? Simply put, it’s designed to cut through the fluff and convey the important details and answers in a much simpler way with a few other tweaks that are easy to understand for a neurodivergent brain or anyone else who wants to follow suit without all the formality of normal human conversation.
Are you using additional skills to enhance the Claude experience?

How do you establish the skill “I have ADHD” and is there a real difference?

It is very easy to establish the skill “I have ADHD”. You should go first the project’s official GitHub and download skill.md file. From there, installation depends on the path you choose.
If you want to use this to use a simple chatbot, you’ll want to download Claude Chat. Next, select Customize from the left panel, which will open a new page that displays the existing skills you’ve installed.
Installation only takes a minute at most, so it won’t hurt to at least give it a try.
Just click to add this new one to add button (as shown in the image above). It will open a pop-up window where you can click or drag the file. Follow the instructions and you’re ready to go. To actually use the skill, you must type /i-have-adhd before asking your question, but you only need to do this once per session, as the skill remains active for the entire conversation.
The easiest way for Claude’s code is to add the market repo via the terminal. You want to type Add ayghri/i-have-adhd to the claude plugin marketplace then after it responds you need to set it by typing install claude plugin i-have-adhd@i-have-adhd. Note that you may need to restart for changes to take effect. As with the chat method, you need to type /i-have-adhd to activate the skill for the current Code Claude session.
As you can see from the screenshots shared above, Claude’s default behavior is to show you infographics and more. including a large dump of information. Obviously this will vary depending on the model you’re using, which in this case was the Opus.
While most of the basic information is similar, the I Have ADHD skill sets 10 basic rules that make life easier for many of us with ADHD:
- Control with action/point.
- Counting multi-step tasks.
- If necessary, complete with the next specific step.
- Pressing tangents.
- Repeat each turn so you don’t forget any important details.
- Use accurate time estimates (minutes, not vague answers like “a little”)
- Make the wins visible.
- Specific errors.
- Lists of 5 elements.
- No introduction. No repeats. There is no cover.
As you can see, the answer to “I have ADHD” begins by affirming the basic claim and then what problem Kant was trying to solve. After that, he talks more about how it works for those who want to dive deeper. However, unlike the unskillful answer, it’s all done here to make skimming a lot more natural and doable.
It’s a simple fix, but it makes using Claude much easier

Although I still prefer Claude in its “raw” state to Gemini or ChatGPT, this simple fix helps me catch up. Although the above examples are focused on Claude Chat, I’ve been using Claude code more and more for several projects lately and find this skill equally valuable here.
In fact, this skill is clearly designed with programmers in mind, although it can be used in other situations, such as re-reading, etc. flexible enough to use. Another advantage of using the skill is that the responses are usually shorter by default, so I’ve found that I burn significantly slower than if I set the skill through my usage caps.
I highly recommend this skill to anyone else who wants to make Claude a straight shooter that doesn’t get stuck in the weeds. Remember, every ADHDer’s experience is different, and some people prefer a massively detailed dump of real data. This means it might not be for you, but it only takes a few minutes to try, and if you like it, you might find it hard to go back to vanilla chats with Claude.
