The Xperia 10 VIII design is out, and Sony isn’t changing much

Sony is expected to unveil its next Xperia phone in a few days, but a new leak has already revealed what the upcoming Xperia 10 VIII will look like.

A picture he shared Android addresses shows what the alleged Xperia 10 VIII is ahead of Sony’s August 25 event in Japan. Sony has only confirmed that a new “Xperia product” is coming, although recent leaks have consistently pointed towards the Xperia 10 VIII. If the picture is accurate, Sony doesn’t seem to be changing much on the outside this year.

The Xperia 10 VII resemblance is hard to miss

At first glance, very little separates the leaked phone from last year’s Xperia 10 VII. It looks like Sony will keep the horizontal camera module, with two rear cameras, an LED flash and the company’s branding next to them.

The phone is seen in a pale green design, while the familiar volume rockers and recessed power button are apparently retained on the right side. The latter suggests that Sony is once again using a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Only the back and part of the side are visible, so the leak doesn’t reveal whether Sony has made any noticeable changes to the display or front design.

The specs may also be familiar

The design is not the only thing that can be carried over from the Xperia 10 VII. A fresh one Geekbench list it showed a Sony XQ-GH54 Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, believed to be the Xperia 10 VIII, paired with 8GB of RAM.

This is the same chipset used in last year’s model. The device scored 871 points in Geekbench’s single-core test and 3028 points in the multi-core test, suggesting that this generation is unlikely to see a significant performance boost.

As previously reported, Sony’s event will begin on August 25th at 11am Japan time, or August 24th at 10pm for US viewers. Xperia phones are still sold in Japan and certain markets such as the UK and Germany, but Sony has scaled back its smartphone presence significantly and officially no longer sells Xperia phones in the US. Therefore, a public release of the Xperia 10 VIII seems unlikely.

Sony needs to fill in the remaining gaps around cameras, battery, pricing and availability at the event.
